UITA “Hall of Fame” Event to Feature Keynote Address by HP CEO
HP’s Mark Hurd will speak to UITA Members as part of Dec. 2 “Tech Event of the Year”

SALT LAKE CITY – Nov. 14, 2005 – The Utah Information Technology Association (UITA) today announced that Mark Hurd, president and chief executive officer of HP, will deliver the keynote address at its Seventh Annual “Hall of Fame” celebration on Dec. 2, 2005 in the Grand Ballroom of the Downtown Marriott, 75 South West Temple. At the event, UITA will induct Drew Major and Dr. Homer R. Warner as Hall of Fame members.

Prior to joining HP in March 2005, Hurd spent 25 years at NCR Corp., culminating in his two-year tenure as chief executive officer and president. His leadership was marked by successful efforts to improve operating efficiency, bolster the position of NCR’s product line and build a strong leadership team.

“Mark Hurd is one of the great global technology leaders,” said Richard R. Nelson, president and chief executive officer of UITA. “His keynote is a superb opportunity for UITA members to gain insights on how to succeed and how to lead in the high-tech world. Hurd is also a member of the Technology CEO Council, a coalition of chairmen and chief executive officers of IT companies, which develops and advocates public policy positions on technology and trade issues. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1979 from Baylor University.

The “Hall of Fame” is the premier recognition event for the Utah IT industry. UITA honors individuals with Utah ties who have made a significant contribution to the IT industry through technology, innovation or business. Their groundbreaking contributions have created jobs, commercialized technology, improved productivity and stimulated the nation’s growth and development.

UITA will recognize and acknowledge the achievements of Drew Major, a founder of Novell and the lead architect and developer of Novell’s NetWare operating system, and Dr. Homer R. Warner, M.D., PhD, a father of Medical Informatics.

UITA’s Seventh Annual “Hall of Fame” will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 in the Grand Ballroom of the Downtown Marriott, 75 South West Temple, with a networking reception. Dinner and awards will begin at 7 p.m. The cost of the black-tie (invited) event is $175 for UITA members and guests and $250 for non-UITA members and guests.
