Dinesh Patel, Partner, vSpring Capital
Dinesh Patel is considered by many to be the father of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals in the Mountain West region. Prior to vSpring, Dinesh co-founded and served as Chairman and CEO of TheraTech, a biotechnology company, which he took public and eventually sold for $350 million to Watson Pharmaceuticals. Dinesh was also a Co-Founder and Founding CEO and Chairman of Salus Therapeutics. Dinesh serves on several non-profit boards, is a Trustee for Utah State University and has won numerous awards including the 1998 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Mountain West Venture Group, and the 1997 Scientific Technology and Development Pioneer of Progress Award and the 1996 Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology Award, both from the State of Utah. Dinesh is also a charter member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). Before vSpring, Dinesh was an active angel investor in over 20 biotech and technology companies. Dinesh received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Gujarat University located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. He received a master’s degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and his Ph.D. in Physical Pharmacy from the Universityof Michigan. Dinesh led the firm's investments in Altea Therapeutics, Axial, Exagen, Inflabloc, Protolex, Q Therapeutics, Zars and Salus Therapeutics which was acquired by Genta (NASDAQ: GNTA) for $30 million.
