UTC Named 2006 Best of State Association / Chamber
SALT LAKE CITY, June 9, 2006—The Utah Technology Council (UTC) has been named Best Association/Chamber in the Community Development category of Utah’s 2006 Best of State. The Best Of State program recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations in ten categories each year. Out of these winners, Best of State will name ten BOSS (Best of State Statue) awards in a gala event that will be televised June 24 on KUTV.
The Community Development category of Best of State includes seven winners in the public sector and ten people and organizations in the private sector. In the private sector, UTC has been named the Associations and Chambers winner for 2006.
“As the voice of Utah’s companies in the technology and life sciences sector, we consider ourselves first and foremost to be community builders,” said Richard R. Nelson, UTC president and CEO. “Our work is tremendously challenging and rewarding. We consider it a great honor to receive this prestigious award.”
“This year’s nominees were exceptional and we are honored to be part of the process that singles out and honors these outstanding people and organizations,” said Dana Layton, Best of State CEO.
The awards will be presented at a televised formal Awards Gala on June 24, 2006 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. The event will be hosted by Mark Koelbel and Shauna Lake of KUTV2.
